National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

 

On Friday, September 29th, schools across SD20 will honour the National Truth and Reconciliation Day in various ways:

  • Knowledge Keepers engaging with classes
  • Drum circles
  • Learning assemblies
  • Education about Orange Shirt Day and Reconciliation

Bead Your Own Orange Shirt

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Saturday, September 30, 2023: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Location: Trail Riverfront Centre

Honour the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Land Acknowledgement and opening prayer, followed by interactive learning. Wear orange to show support.

National Truth and Reconciliation Day and Orange Shirt Day with COINS

Saturday, September 30th

1801 Connors Road in Castlegar

11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Circle of Indigenous Nations Society (COINS) is inviting the public to join them in marking National Truth and Reconciliation Day and Orange Shirt Day. The purpose of the event is to offer acknowledgement and make prayer ties for the children of the residential schools — survivors, and the children that didn’t get to come home. Merchandise will be available for purchase.
